Splendid Grand History: The Splendid Grand was originally produced by Akai to use with it's hardware based samplers S5000-S6000. The samples were based on a Steinway D concert Grand.

A few years ago Akai made the sampler presets freely available for download.

We have been fortunate enough to have been able to convert these into SoundFont format and make them available to users all over the world.

Besides the small 72mb download we have made a vailable a CD with all of the larger samples included as well as a few other useful pianos.

Splendid Grand SoundFont Download

 
Below you will find the 72mb version of 
the Splendid Grand SoundFont. 
1. Download all the files into a single folder
2. Launch the part with the .exe extension 
to automatically join the remaining parts.
3. Uncompress using  SFPack to expand the SoundFont archive.

I haved used them in Cakewalk's SONAR 4 Producer using LiveSynth Pro 
Vsampler 3 and SFZ
Your mileage may vary .
Note
There are some issues with the SBLive that prevent you from
addressing more than 32 meg of sample memory at a time.
